Since 1984, she has been a freelance writer, editor and communications consultant, working with clients in industry, government and the non-profit sector. She specializes in utility issues, arts and social issues, and has won numerous business writing awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, including Silver Leaf (national) and Capital City (local) awards.

 

Communications projects have included:

• Assisting with the preparation of utility rate applications and responses to information requests.
• Preparing customer communications related to rates and other utility issues.
• Assisting clients with the strategic planning process, development of business plans and writing business cases. 
• Developing plans and materials to successfully manage issues and influence decision makers
• Writing and producing annual reports 
• Writing speeches, presentations, video scripts and web copy.
• Writing and producing internal newsletters and magazines
• Researching and writing internal discussion papers 
• Researching & writing histories of groups as diverse as Alberta’s Home Economists and the Shumka Dancers.
• Writing confidential bid documents for a variety of contracts.
• Developing policy & procedural manuals.
• Writing magazine columns and articles.
