Two recent conferences allowed Alice Major to present on topics where poetry, mathematics, science and religion intersect.

First, Bridges is an annual conference that brings together an interdisciplinary group of mathematicians, scientists and artists in many disciplines. The 2018 conference took place in Stockholm, and Alice presented “From e to Metaphor” about using mathematical concepts as the basis for metaphor. Her paper can be read here.

Second, she was also a speaker at “Our Place in the Cosmos? Humanity, Spirituality and the Awesome Cosmos”, organized by the Saskatchewan Centre for Science and Religion. Her contribution was “From Science to Significance”, exploring how a poet of today tries to find meaning in the surge of new knowledge: physics, evolutionary, biology, quantum physics and cosmology.
